I'm going to take this opportunity to say how much I love that Kara doesn't wear makeup, not that they'd have any or that she would cause end of worlds and all, but the point is that she's just so beautiful and natural. LOVE IT SO MUCH! <3<3
Yeah, that's one of the things that I think is fantastic about the show. It's logical and realistic, but they didn't actually have to play it that way (because I can't count how many programs even have the women sleeping in full makeup!). Katee is stunning with or without makeup but I think she's even more luminous/glowing as freshly scrubbed Kara than she sometimes is gussied up for big Hollywood events. <3
OT from Kara but for a long time I wondered how Laura had such amazing hair when she was a cancer patient and hair care products probably weren't exactly in easy supply, but shrugged and thought maybe she had the Good Hair fairies and no chemo on her side. My disbelief didn't come unsuspended until her hair was suddenly poker-straight.....and then, of course the show had to lampshade it by showing us it was a wig!
I think Katee has the kind of beauty that doesn't need too much added on to it, esp. by way of makeup/the usual gussying-up. I mean, she was a knockout in Colonial Day/on red carpets, but she's actually so much more gorgeous when dressed down than when she's dressed up.
It's amazing how gorgeous this cast is, they spend nearly all their time in this brutal, bleak mostly highly unflattering lighting with no obvious makeup and the most utilitarian clothes imaginable, and Katee (all of them really) is STILL enough to take anyone's breath away.
Side note: I really loved Kara's hair in its ponytail phase from S2, it's so cute but no-nonsense at the same time.

As someone who has long hair I can't tell you how glad I was that she wears it in a pony tail. I really hate when women on telly wear loose hair to do everything, especially when they're doing something intensive/actiony because there is absolutely no way that 1) the hair wouldn't get in the way or 2) the hair wouldn't annoy the posessor of it.
I love that BSG makes my women believable like that :)
Preach, sister! I used to think that wearing hair loose all the time was something that only people with perfect hair (like women on telly/the movies) did, because my own hair is long too and it never behaves like that.
I can buy the action girl with her hair down on, say, Firefly because River Tam is cuckoo, but I really appreciate that BSG didn't do the usual superficial prettifications on its already very pretty cast.
